Trips overseas are great fun, especially when it is a nice vacation. Sometimes though we still need to touch base with our loved ones and, if it is a business trip, we probably need to contact our office on a regular basis. The international prepaid phone card is a great money saving little thing for these circumstances.

Most countries have a reciprocal arrangement with America that they will accept these cards as payment for a call home.  It is still best to confirm that they can be used where you are going though. You can do this a few ways.  Firstly the internet is a great place to find this out.  But even if they say it is acceptable it is still a good idea to check with the telephone company of both your own state and the country that you are visiting.

If your trip involves more than one country, you will need to check them all.  One facility offered by some of them is that you can call one foreign country from another.  It would be a good idea to make sure that you get this option if relevant.

Another option offered is that you can use them to make calls from the US to another country or even within the US itself.  This choice is good because you can make arrangements in the country you are visiting before you set off and then after you get home, you will be able to use up any spare money on your local calls.

The next step in getting an international prepaid phone card is to decide on how much you will be using it and, therefore, how much you will need to load onto your card.  You will need to find out the costs of the charges between the two countries to work this out.

A little warning here.  Most of us underestimate how long we spend on our phone calls so I recommend that you decide how long you need and then double it just to be safe,

Telephone calls between countries can work out expensive.  When you get your prepaid card you will be able to make the calls without having to worry about much the telephone bill will be when you get home.

I hope that this might have clarified things a bit in your mind and hope that you an enjoyable holiday with your international prepaid phone card in your luggage.
